This is an excellent guide to the process of building a startup and working towards a strategic acquisition! As a founder, it’s easy to get lost in the day-to-day minutiae, but it’s important to keep an eye on the broader goals and metrics that investors and potential acquirers will focus on. This book serves as an accessible introduction to the process of building a startup, raising capital as needed, and eventually selling the business for a profit.
This book is hands down the most helpful and effective business book I’ve read in 25 years. It’s the most actionable. I implemented what I learned and my organization is finally thriving.
Exceptional book, and a fun read! Mr. Shepard lays out a very practical and proven framework for getting from an idea, to a product, to a company, to an exit. The basic process and principles are relevant to almost any endeavor, not just building a startup. Highly recommended.
In reading Greg’s book, I have unlocked systems and knowledge about my business that I would’ve never received from other literature. I am actively building my company, LayUp, while reading through the lessons and successes that serial entrepreneur, Gregory Shepard, has had over the years. Greg is not only a terrific author, entrepreneur, and mentor, but also a terrific person with tons of passion for entrepreneurship and supporting people who walk behind him in his path. The aspects of Startup Lifecycle that I enjoy the most are how the steps are laid out for you, and the process of idea to exit becomes a science, where the area of business to many, is shrouded with uncertainty. Startup Lifecycle has rewired my paradigms for effective business development that I hope to carry forward as we progress throughout the steps. If you are looking for an actionable, easy-to-follow guide to successful entrepreneurship, this book should top the charts considering Greg’s background, story, and support of the community involved in his life’s work.
This is a great book! I’ve met Greg in person and I was able to chat him briefly and everytime I learn a lot from him. He has an inspiring life story and insights on entrepreneurship especially when dealing with venture capital. This is the best book I’ve read on the topic and I would highly recommend this book to anyone
