The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read

THE BOOK YOU WISH YOUR PARENTS HAD READ (and Your Children Will Be Glad That You Did)

by Philippa Perry

Great parenting is built on a strong, loving connection between parent and child. Unfortunately, our parenting style and responses to our children are often influenced by unresolved issues from our own childhood—many of which we are not even aware of.  In this book, Philippa Perry shares how we can reflect on our own upbringing, break any negative parenting cycles, and foster a nurturing environment where our children can thrive.

In this summary, you’ll learn:

• How your childhood could influence your parenting behaviors, and how to repair any emotional ruptures;
• How to create a nurturing environment where children can thrive;
• How to cultivate emotional intelligence in the family—in both parent and child;
• How to lay the foundation for emotional connection early, even before the child is born;
• How to build a strong foundation for mental-emotional health; and
• How to deal with “bad” behaviors in children, to help them express themselves more appropriately.

Who should read this:
• Parents, parents-to-be, teachers, educators, caregivers, and therapists working with children.
• Anyone who wants to improve their parenting skills and/or their relationship with their parents.
